Alan Schultz (’81 COB) is chairman, president and CEO of Valassis Communications, LLC. Today, the company has more than 7,000 employees and operates in 28 states and eight countries. Through Alan’s leadership, Valassis has received more than 30 awards and honors, including Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For,” the Bain Award for Strategy Excellence, and Business Ethics Magazine’s “100 Best Corporate Citizens.”
Alan has also coordinated a 26-year partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Valassis assists in media coverage of missing children and recently led a team of 80 Valassis executives in building a community park in an economically disadvantaged community in Alabama.
In addition to his professional career, Alan has remained a great community partner. He is a volunteer member of the College of Business’ Advisory Council, where on the Internship Committee he works to create new internship and career opportunities for COB students.
