Bashar Alnarraie is a standout student, campus leader and community volunteer. In addition to maintaining excellent grades in a demanding course of study, he’s also taken on leadership positions within three student organizations. He's been the president of Eta Kappa Nu, an electrical and computer engineering honor society, and previously held the position of activities coordinator for Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honor society. Through both of these societies Bashar has helped organize educational seminars for his fellow students. He has plans to develop a job-hunting seminar, during which high-ranking business people and government officials will present advice about finding a job in a difficult economy.
“By taking leadership positions in these organizations Bashar has shown that he is qualified and willing to organize and run events and seminars for fellow students that help to enhance the collegiate experiences of his fellow students,” says Malayappan Shridhar, instructor, academic affairs/ECE.
Even with his busy schedule, Bashar devotes many hours of volunteer time to the community. He has been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the Friends-of-the Rouge Clean-up event, and has used his affiliations with the Chaldean American Student Association and Tau Beta Pi to organize charity drives that benefit children and refugee families.
