Marzia Chowdhury has a list of campus involvements that “seems endless,” according to a staff member in the Office of Institutional Advancement. Indeed, the resume from her time on campus includes terms on executives boards of Volunteer Dearborn and the Student Organization Advisory Council, positions as adaptive lab assistant for Counseling and Support Services and as a University Center Ambassador, service to student government and a long list of volunteer projects. She also gives back to the larger Detroit community by volunteering at the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, World Medical Relief and the Michigan Veteran’s Foundation, among others.
“(Her) love and interest in the UM-Dearborn campus community makes her position as a UM Ambassador a welcome one,” says Kathleen Herr of the University Center. “She wants everyone to have a great experience on campus, whether they walk into the UC as a student, faculty member, alumni or guest. Her knowledge and engaging personality make every encounter that one has with Marzia a positive one.”
Says Kristin McDonough, of institutional advancement, “Marzia is a great advocate for students and is passionate about encouraging others to get involved and make an impact on campus.”
IN MY OWN WORDS
"My biggest accomplishment at UM-Dearborn was discovering my love for volunteerism and student activism. To help one's community whether it be the student body or the community at large is very empowering for everyone involved. I've been given the opportunity to serve the student body through Student Government. I was also able to serve the community through Alternative Spring Break & Volunteer Dearborn and was able to work with amazing orgnaizations all over Southeast Michigan."
