Angelo's Story

Angelo Bertani has the desire to work in the world of automation, specifically robots.

“Anything involving some sort of automation of a machine is my dream job, ” Angelo said.

With a knack for both computers and machinery, he loves combining the raw power of machines into a functioning and useful self-driving/working machine. He hopes one day to improve the design of an autonomous snowplow.

Angelo spends much of his time sharing his robotics knowledge with anyone who is willing to listen. He has taken great pleasure in demonstrating his robot designs to elementary students and high school students. His goal? He hopes to increase their interest in the field of engineering.

He also is helping to increase the knowledge of members of the university’s autonomous snowplow teams—even if he’ll later compete against them.

“The quiet mentor is probably the best way to describe Angelo Bertani,” said Narasimhamurthi “Nattu” Natarajan, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering. “I have known Angelo for nearly two years and I am constantly surprised by how much he helps other students and how unassuming and low key he is when does so.”

Angelo has competed in five robotics competitions and has successfully placed in the top 3 every time.

In the classroom, Angelo maintains a 3.6 GPA and has regularly made the Dean’s list. He is a member of Eta Kappa Nu (HKN), an electrical/computer engineering honor society, and Tau Beta Pi (TBP), a general engineering honor society.
