If you Google Chanel Stitt, the entire first page of results shows the reach that the college journalist has — she’s in broadcast media, writing print media and in online news.
But that’s just the beginning for the Michigan Journal copy editor. The dream is to work as a White House correspondent so she can be a voice for the nation.
She wants to use her words to help bring people together.
“There are so many instances where people stick to their own groups,” she said. “I am a Difference Maker because I am constantly assisting others to help create community and mending the divisions I see.”
Stitt currently does this work through leadership opportunities both on and off campus. Her campus experience includes Public Relations Student Society of America vice president, Alpha Kappa Alpha president, Greek Unity Council chair and orientation leader. Off campus, she has worked in several different writing capacities and is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Named Intern of the Year in 2018, Stitt shared her talents with Garden City Hospital as their public relations and marketing intern. She’s also worked for Model D Media, where she had the most read story of 2018, and landed an internship with WDIV-Local 4.
