Christopher's Story

Chris Harwood is an eager and active leader who not only is driven to personally succeed, but helps other students reach their full potential.
 
Chris worked hard to implement this year’s e-Academy, a three-week entrepreneurial immersion program for Detroit area high-school students.

“He consistently impressed me with his willingness to take on challenges, but also bring his perspective to the activity,” said Mike Callahan, director of the College of Business’ internship program. “As a result, he not only makes things happen, but he does so in a way that allows for his personal vision, and ultimately results in a better outcome than if he were just following directions.”
 
He went on to present the work he did with e-Academy during the Celebrating Victors ceremony, which projects to be the largest fundraising campaign in the history of University of Michigan.
 
His work didn’t stop there, though. He also has held executive board positions in three separate student organizations that focus on professional development and personal branding.
 
“Chris goes above and beyond the duties of an average student, and for that, he is deserving of a Difference Maker award,” said Alex Piazza, of the Office of Communications and Marketing.
 
Chris plans on attending Ross School of Business at University of Michigan to earn an executive master’s of business administration degree.
 
“I plan on going into business for myself and starting my own managerial consulting firm that focuses on improved communication among various departments and increased efficiency throughout the company,” he said.
