Jason's Story

When Jason Davis was growing up, his parents stressed the importance of giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the world. Jason took their message to heart, becoming a person dedicated to improving the lives of others. As a student at UM-Dearborn, he has volunteered for more than 15 organizations, including Faith Medical, Gleaners, Bridging Communities, Metro Detroit Youth Day, Motorcity Blight Busters, Franklin Wright Settlements, Ray West Memorial Ramp Project, Greening of Detroit, Habitat for Humanity, Muscular Dystrophy Association Camp, Salvation Army, and Detroit Public Television.

In addition to his volunteer work, Jason has found the time to actively engage with student organizations. He has served as the vice president of the Student Body, chair of the Student and Academic Affairs Committee, a co-founder of the Student Association of Michigan, and the creator of the Student Legacy Scholarship. In explaining the reasons for his activism, Jason says, “I feel it’s important to be active in my community, and encourage and support others to do the same...[Also], my parents always told me there were no boundaries to what I could accomplish.”
