Meaghan's Story

It’s clear that Meaghan Ograyensek stands out as a leader, both inside of the classroom and out. She's been Vice President of the University’s Golden Key International Honour Society, President of the school’s Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, and a founding member of the UM-Dearborn English Club.

Her many honors include: the University Dean’s Scholarship, United Auto Workers (UAW) Dependent Student Scholarship, and the Michigan Merit Award. She has been a recipient of University Honors, was named to the Dean’s list multiple semesters, and was named a James B. Angell Scholar for two semesters; she is also a student of the Honors Program. Meaghan’s research has been published in the book Resort to War by Dr. Frank Wayman and Meredith Reid Sarkees.

“I have always found it difficult to merely sit back and let life happen to me, instead choosing to become completely immersed in all aspects.”

Meaghan's worked at Bodman LLP, a law firm in Detroit, and has interned under Judge David A. Groner of the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan, with intentions of continuing to ‘make a difference’ by practicing corporate law.

Meaghan has also found time to help the local community by volunteering with Vista Maria, Habitat for Humanity, and the United Way and has supported the city with participation in Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Gandhi Day, and the Grand Kids Foundation Charity Run.

“My hope is that, by making a difference in my brief time on this campus, I have left behind a legacy of leadership and a desire for new differences to become reality.”
