Megan's Story

Megan McDonald runs miles each day, stays involved on campus and maintains her status on the Dean’s List.

As captain of UM-Dearborn’s women’s varsity cross country team, Megan is prepared to take on challenges with power and determination. Megan earned a scholarship to run cross country at UM-Dearborn. She is also a scholarship recipient of the Tau Sigma National Honor Society, an academic honor society for transfer students. Megan currently is president of Tau Sigma's  UM-Dearborn chapter.

“I love how inclusive this campus is and how many opportunities I have had since attending UM-Dearborn,” said Megan. She serves as treasurer and Greek Week delegate of her sorority, and handles all the incoming and outgoing finances for members and chapter activities as well as creates the budget for the year. She is a member of Order of Omega Honor Society, Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity and Honors Transfer Innovators.

“Megan is one of those rare students who is not only able to succeed as a student, not only succeed as an athlete, but also effectively participate in numerous extracurricular activities,” said cross country coach Joe Horka.

“I believe that college is a mix of both working hard and making memories. I wanted to make memories, meet new people and create friendships that would last a lifetime,” said Megan.

Her dream career is to use her degree at The Walt Disney Company. She participated in the Disney Program and believes the opportunity taught her fantastic life skills. Megan’s high degree of character and integrity, and her quick feet, will take her anywhere—perhaps even to the happiest place on earth.
