Whether it was leading campus-wide events or sharing her college experiences with incoming and prospective students, the moments that define Nada Noor’s legacy on campus have always been those in which she was giving back to the campus community.

During Nada’s freshman year at UM-Dearborn she jumped right into campus life while maintaining her academic achievements. Being active in Student Government familiarized her with a number of organizations and an outlet for student activism. These early experiences lead her to co-found and lead Students for Social Responsibility (SSR) by the end of her first year. 

Nada’s leadership roles, student activism and academic work have developed beyond Student Government and SSR to include various programs within her academic field of study; engineering. Over the span of her academic career she dedicated much of her time to promoting and supporting women in engineering through Alpha Omega Epsilon, a professional engineering and technical science sorority. She is also giving back to the community through her teaching assistant position for PURSE (Promoting Underrepresented Girls Involvement in Research Science and Energy) through the Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program. 

As a participant of the university’s Co-op program, Nada gained valuable engineering work experience during her assignments in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While in Albuquerque, Nada remained active at the University of New Mexico as a student activist through the Coalition for Peace and Justice in the Middle East (CPJME) and as a student of engineering, supporting UNM’s Engineers Without Borders (EWB). She has gone above and beyond her degree requirements to network across campus and across the country and credits her success to these enriching experiences.
