What makes you a Difference Maker?
I believe I’m a Difference Maker because I set high standards for myself and others around me to accomplish what we set out to do. I constantly communicate with people to stay on the same page going forward and hold all of us accountable for our actions. I have a natural drive with what I want to accomplish at the university and I feed off the energy from my colleagues to reach higher levels. I’m never satisfied with the current state I’m in because I know everything can always be improved in some fashion, whether it be myself or the organizations I’m in.
Highlight your leadership experiences both on and off campus:
Off campus, I’m a treasurer of a non-profit organization. We’re involved with supporting a community that runs a food pantry and has AA and NA support groups, along with several other operations.
On campus, I have multiple leadership positions in my student organizations:
- Treasurer of Finance Association
- Treasurer of National Society of Leadership and Success
- Fundraising committee in Alpha Kappa Psi
- Financial Analyst of Formula (SAE) Electric
In almost all of these student orgs, I handle the finances for the organization or the specific projects in each organization. I’ve also integrated an online personal finance course into the university via Finance Association and the Internship and Career Management Center for students’ benefit. The experience I get while working with the members and staff in each organization is truly rewarding and I could never thank them enough for all of their hard work.
What is your dream career and/or long term life goal?
My dream is to dedicate my life and career for space exploration. Organizations such as NASA, SpaceX or Blue Origin would be a dream come true. Wondering what’s out in the universe sometimes keeps me up at night, which motivates me to find answers. Financially supporting space exploration is my life goal. I plan to one day help financially support the colonization of Mars and beyond. I will spend my entire life pursuing this goal and will not stop trying until I do.
What was your most defining moment at UM-Dearborn?
My most defining moment at UM-Dearborn was when I was waiting to become inducted in Alpha Kappa Psi. Waiting in a room with my pledge class to see if we made it in was an experience like no other. The beginning of my involvement on campus was when I officially became a brother. This was the starting point which lead me to become involved in everything that I’m in. I share this moment with a handful of brothers and I will never forget it.
