Shahad Atiya works hard every day to make a difference. She's been the President of Student Government and prior to that, she was a Student Government Senator and a Speaker of the Senate. Shahad has also been a member of the Political Science Club and a Political/Special Interest Representative for the Student Organization Advisory Council (SOAC).
Her passion for political activism was clear in her roles as Political Action Chair for Amnesty International and Director of Philanthropy for Students United for Peace and Justice. She once held the position of Vice President for the Iraqi Student Association as well as Youth Committee Chairwoman for the Iraqi Medical Sciences Association and was the Civic Engagement Director for the Political Science Club. “Through my campus involvement, I have tried to focus on joining organizations that address issues of social justice.” For her hard work and dedication, Shahad was recognized two years running as an outstanding delegate in the Model League of Arab States.
